How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? My product uses conventions by taking place somewhere that a lot of pop music videos take place, which is the beach. Also my music video overall has a very upbeat theme, which is prominent in other pop music videos. My music video features my actor having fun which is also in a lot of pop music videos. I decided to make these choices since I wanted to make my music video similar to a pop music video, but I didn't want to completely copy the conventions of a pop music video. I wanted to make my music video individual instead of basing it exactly what other pop music videos do, this would make my music video different from other people. However my music video also challenges conventions in multiple ways, like how there is no lip syncing or singing in my music video. After working hard for weeks on end, I have finally completed my music video. This music was anything but easy, I faced multiple challenges along the way and met those challenges with solutions. This music video helped me learn different problem solving skills for problems I would have never thought of. I am really proud of how hard I worked to film and post all of my blogs throughout this project. I believe that I have grown in my film making skills and in directing by completing this music video. The whole process of planning everything out before I did it made this process so much easier. Since I researched the conventions of pop music and saw the theme of them, I probably would have been so confused on what to film. After planning my whole music video, and then developing a course of action to make this music video a reality, I have to film and edit my music video. Before I even started filming I ran into some issues, like how I needed to find someone to film with me since I was completing this project on my own. Since I decided to film this during my Thanksgiving break, a lot of people were out of town visiting their family. We are also currently in a pandemic, therefore a lot of people want to stay as safe as possible, which means a lot of people have to stay home and can't go outside. However, I called all of my peers to see if any of them were able to film. Thankfully, one of my friends were able to leave their house and let me film them for my music video.  I have finally completed all of the filming for my music video. This has been a challenging process but I am almost done with this project. After I completed filming, I watched some of my film to see if I needed to film anything again. I figured that all of my shots were good, so overall all of the film was good to use and edit with. I dumped all of my film onto my computer and imported it into iMovie to edit it together. I added the music to my film, which was easier to do than the last project I did. I started to edit all of my film together but we ran into a problem on the way. I filmed too much, therefore making the music video longer than the time it needs to be. My music video needs to be sixty seconds long, however with all of scenes that I filmed, mine was about one minute and thirty seconds.
