Final Task

Image
After weeks of filming and editing I have finally completed my final task. It was a very long and hard process of filming, editing, reshooting, and reediting. However I have completed my final task and learned a lot during this process. I am very happy with my final task, since I worked very hard on it. This is my final task, thank you.

Problems While Editing

I am almost done with my final task, however I still need to fix some things. I first have to review everything before I export my final task. I also have to see what else I need to fix before the due date. The first thing I looked at was if I overall liked the film and how it was edited. I wanted to see if I wanted to make any minor changes before I turn it in. I watched the film multiple times and found that I didn't want to change anything. I thought my final task was good and that there weren't any minor changes that I wanted to make. I also wanted to see if there were any technical problems with the film. That is where I started to have problems with the final task. Everything was fine with the film the last time I edited and watched the film. However, when I went to go watch my final task on another day, wherever my titles were went black. The entire screen would just go black for however long my title was up for. This was not good and put me under a lot of stress since

Reviewing My Opening Sequence

Image
After I had reshot and reedited my film, I decided to show someone my opening sequence. I needed an outsiders viewpoint of the opening sequence to see what needed to be fixed. I sent my opening sequence to a friend for them to critique. They watched the opening sequence multiple times to see what needed to be fixed within the editing, or film. A couple of things needed to be fixed within the editing of the video. First thing that needed to be fixed were that some clips were louder than others. Another thing that needed to be fixed was that the music playing in the background of some scenes, was not loud enough. Also sometimes the audio would cut in and out. Also there was a point where the titles were going too fast and they couldn't read them. Just overall the sound quality wasn't good in some parts of the film. Thus to solve these problems I started to fix them. I first started working on the volume of some clips to try to make them as even as possible. Fixing the audio took

Reshooting and Reediting

After spring break came I thought I was done with filming. However, that was not the case, I ended up having to reshoot some scenes. I was watching the film and I saw that there were times where props weren't in the shot or I just didn't like the scene. I had to reshoot the scene where friend 2 gets kidnapped. That was very frustrating because I forgot to hand the kidnapper the notebook for the scene. We ended up having to go back to the site of where we filmed and film that portion again. We had to film it multiple time to make sure that the scene looked natural. Also, there were some scenes, that just didn't look right, so I decided to reshoot those again. I also had to reshoot some scenes due to the audio quality. There were some scenes where you could not hear the actors talking. I also had to reedit some parts of the film after I thought that I got it down to two minutes. I was watching the film with the edits that I made and some of the choices I made, made no sense.

Challenges During Filming and Editing

We filmed for days since we had to keep filming things over and over again. However, I ended up filming my entire film throughout spring break. Some things had to be taken out due to how long the film was going to be, and some clips just didn't flow with the film. A big problem that came up while filming was the fact that there were some outside aspects that I didn't think about. I did not think about wildlife within the area, like ducks walking over or making noise. However, we would try to get the ducks to move away from where we were filming so we didn't hear them as much. I also didn't take into account how long the film would be in some of the scenes that I filmed. When I finished filming and reviewed the scenes, I noticed how long the film was, and it was longer than the two minute cut off. I also didn't realize how some scenes had movement from either the actors or the camera that just didn't flow with the film. For some scenes I had to change how I moved

Finally Filming

After deciding to film at the new location we finally started to film. The filming process ended up taking multiple days due to how long the film had to be, and filming different scenes. While filming we had to change the script slightly since my parents were better at memorizing the basis of the lines and then ad libbing. This slight change didn't change the storyline at all, nor did it change how the film was filmed. We started off by filming the first scene, which went well. It took a bunch of takes to finally get the correct shot for this scene, but it got completed. Throughout the filming process I learned to be very patient. I would get very frustrated sometimes when it would take a long time to film. However, I stopped getting frustrated and started to embrace the mistakes made and film scenes again. We filmed a couple of scenes on the first day, however, we couldn't finish the film in one day. I decided instead of rushing to film everyday, we would film on multiple day
