Challenges During Filming and Editing
We filmed for days since we had to keep filming things over and over again. However, I ended up filming my entire film throughout spring break. Some things had to be taken out due to how long the film was going to be, and some clips just didn't flow with the film. A big problem that came up while filming was the fact that there were some outside aspects that I didn't think about. I did not think about wildlife within the area, like ducks walking over or making noise. However, we would try to get the ducks to move away from where we were filming so we didn't hear them as much. I also didn't take into account how long the film would be in some of the scenes that I filmed. When I finished filming and reviewed the scenes, I noticed how long the film was, and it was longer than the two minute cut off. I also didn't realize how some scenes had movement from either the actors or the camera that just didn't flow with the film. For some scenes I had to change how I moved the camera or how the actors moved, so it could flow better with the movie. I also ended up cutting out some clips of scenes while I was editing the film. A problem I faced while editing was how long the film was. Before I edited anything or added music, I had to make sure the film was the correct length. The film initially was three minutes and fifty seconds because of how long some of the clips were in some scenes. Some clips in the scenes were unnecessarily long, so they were easy to trim and make shorter. However, that was where my problems began because the film was still too long. I ended up having to completely edit out some clips in some scenes to get my film to the correct duration. That was extremely challenging because I felt that every scene was necessary in the film. After 3 days of editing, I was able to get my film to the correct duration it needed to be. I was finally able to start adding the titles and music after this challenge.
