My Gatorade Commercial

After a lot of trial and error, I have completed my commercial for Gatorade. I am very proud to show this commercial, since it took a lot of time and effort to complete. This commercial taught me many things when it comes to filming, directing, editing, and overall the whole process of what goes into making a commercial. In the beginning of this, I had no idea what I was doing, I was ver confused on how to start filming a commercial. However, I started off with researching what I wanted to do my commercial on, and what the commercial would be about. This helped me plan what I wanted to film, where I wanted to film the commercial, and what the commercial should overall be about. The research took me into how to plan for the commercial, which involved planning what day I should film, what and who I am going to film, and the props I will be using in the commercial. Before I started filming I drew out on my storyboard what each scene would look like, therefore I had an overall view on what my commercial would look like. I would say that without my storyboard, I would have no idea on what to film and how to film my commercial. With all of my research and planning done, it was finally time to film my commercial. I brought my props and my storyboard so I knew what to film, and my actress showed up to film. I filmed my scenes in order of my storyboard to have an idea of what order the scenes would be placed in the commercial. I filmed all the scenes multiple times until we got a good version of the scene to be in the commercial. When I finished filming all of the scenes on the storyboard, I decided to film extra scenes for the commercial to make the commercial one big story. Later I dumped all of my film on to my computer and started to edit. Editing my commercial was the most challenging part of this whole experience, however I completed all of my editing. Now that I have completed this project as a whole, I now see that this truly shows how capable my skills are overall when it comes to filming, editing, and directing. This project has helped my gain confidence in my production skills, which helps me take on any future projects like this. This project proves to myself that I can complete a project like this with the proper steps taken. I am overall very happy with the final result, and cannot wait to strengthen my production skills.

 I decided not to film this weekend due to the fact that I didn't have all the items needed. In a previous blog I mentioned all of the items I needed to film. The past weekend I decided to dedicate it to making a list and buying everything I needed for the film. If I didn't dedicate this weekend to buying all of the materials I needed, I would not be able to film. I would rather film fully prepared with everything I need before hand, than start filming and not have anything. Planning to Film

 I can not film during the week due to school and other obligations I have. Instead of not being proactive about filming, I decided that I am going to see what I need to do before I film. I looked at what props I would need for the film, and seeing what I would need to do to attain that. I decided that I will probably need some rope for my final task, so I have to see how much it costs, and where to buy it. I also must decide when I am going to go out and buy the rope with my parents since I don't have a car. I also must decide who I want to act in the film and who they are going to play. After I decide who I want to be in the film, and who they are going to play, I have to contact them. I plan to start filming and having everything I need by next weekend, so that gives me a lot of time to plan. Genre Research: Action

 I conducted research this year on the action genre of movies where I discussed the different aspects of the genre of action movies. I made sure in the powerpoint to add different pictures and examples of each term I researched. I specifically used pictures from action movies to show how each term was used and to show action examples. I discussed the lighting in action movies, which typically tends to be low-key lighting, high-key lighting, and Rembrandt lighting. I used pictures from movies like "Fight Club" to show the use of this lighting in these movies. I discussed the camera angles in action movies, which tend to be establishing shots, ariel shots, close up shots, mid shots, and high angle shots.
