Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

 For my music video I will be using "Die Young" by Kesha as the song. In the music video for "Die Young", Kesha is the center of attention most of the music video, while she is dancing. There are also other people in the music video who showcase Kesha, and dance. It takes place in an abandoned area, and they sing and dance through out the entire music video. There are some close ups of Kesha and the other dancers in the music video. They all seem to be having fun throughout the entirety of the music video when they dance with Kesha.  I have also done research on Kesha's other music videos, and I have realized there is no specific type of music video Kesha does. Some of her music videos involve a lot of singing and dancing, where some of them don't showcase her dancing at all. However a lot of her music videos feature people having fun and dancing. Some of Kesha's music videos feature her music being played at a concert or a party with a lot of people there. Kesha is considered to be in the pop genre of music, therefore I have looked at music videos within pop music. In pop music, the music videos tend to feature those at parties, concerts, or other fun activities. Typically in all of the pop music, the singer of the song tends to be in the center of attention. Also in pop music, the music video tends to be up beat and happy through out the whole music video. In pop music, the music videos costuming usually has to do with what the singer in the music video is doing. If the singer is on the beach, they would be wearing a swimsuit, if they are at a party, they will be wearing casual clothes. Also pop music tends to usually be up beat and happy, to put you in a content mood. Kesha's music videos are really diverse and different, and typically don't match each other. Most pop artists music videos all have around the same theme, which is what differentiates Kesha from the rest. Overall Kesha's music videos are all very diverse, however they all give off a happy mood throughout the video.

 I decided not to film this weekend due to the fact that I didn't have all the items needed. In a previous blog I mentioned all of the items I needed to film. The past weekend I decided to dedicate it to making a list and buying everything I needed for the film. Planning to Film

 I can not film during the week due to school and other obligations I have. Instead of not being proactive about filming, I decided that I am going to see what I need to do before I film. I looked at what props I would need for the film, and seeing what I would need to do to attain that. I decided that I will probably need some rope for my final task, so I have to see how much it costs, and where to buy it. I also must decide when I am going to go out and buy the rope with my parents since I don't have a car. I also must decide who I want to act in the film and who they are going to play. After I decide who I want to be in the film, and who they are going to play, I have to contact them. I plan to start filming and having everything I need by next weekend, so that gives me a lot of time to plan. Genre Research: Action

 I conducted research this year on the action genre of movies where I discussed the different aspects of the genre of action movies. I made sure in the powerpoint to add different pictures and examples of each term I researched. I specifically used pictures from action movies to show how each term was used and to show action examples. I discussed the lighting in action movies, which typically tends to be low-key lighting, high-key lighting, and Rembrandt lighting. I used pictures from movies like "Fight Club" to show the use of this lighting in these movies. I discussed the camera angles in action movies, which tend to be establishing shots, ariel shots, close up shots, mid shots, and high angle shots.
