Genre Decision

 After a lot of research, time, and effort thought into what genre I should do my final task on, I have finally decided. I have decided that I should do a film in the genre of a thriller, since I think thrillers are very interesting. Thrillers are a unique genre of movies since they keep the audience on the edge of their seat. At first, I wanted to make some kind of action movie since I used to watch a lot of action movies. This was an issue since action movies are really hard to make since they usually involve a lot of stunts. Also, because of COVID-19, it is really hard to find places to film since you have to wear a mask, and places are closed. Action movies are usually really hard to film normally, let alone in the middle of a pandemic where it is hard to find places to film. I also thought about doing a comedy sort of film for my final task since I also enjoyed comedies. However an issue with comedies is that the plot is not too good in my opinion. Also some comedies could be seen as very repetitive since they could be making the same jokes, or the same comments throughout the entire movie. Overall comedies would not have been a good choice for me since they could get very repetitive very fast. Thrillers are very interesting and seem to always keep the audience entertained some way. I came to the conclusion of picking a thriller by doing extensive research on the genre. I enjoyed the way these movies are filmed, written, and acted out since they always keep me entertained. Another reason why I decided on choosing to do a thriller for my genre was how it is possible to film this type of movie, during these times. To film a thriller, I wouldn't necessarily need to go anywhere that could be dangerous to me or my family. I also had an idea of the story I would like to film, and that story would fall under the thriller genre. I also really enjoy watching thrillers, I love how entertaining they are with all of the emotion used and how suspenseful they are. I believe that a thriller would be the most interesting genre to film, and that it is possible to film with the current circumstances.
Overall thrillers are very interesting and I am excited to get started on this project filming a thriller.

 I decided not to film this weekend due to the fact that I didn't have all the items needed. In a previous blog I mentioned all of the items I needed to film. The past weekend I decided to dedicate it to making a list and buying everything I needed for the film. Planning to Film

 I can not film during the week due to school and other obligations I have. Instead of not being proactive about filming, I decided that I am going to see what I need to do before I film. I looked at what props I would need for the film, and seeing what I would need to do to attain that. I decided that I will probably need some rope for my final task, so I have to see how much it costs, and where to buy it. I also must decide when I am going to go out and buy the rope with my parents since I don't have a car. I also must decide who I want to act in the film and who they are going to play. After I decide who I want to be in the film, and who they are going to play, I have to contact them. I plan to start filming and having everything I need by next weekend, so that gives me a lot of time to plan. Genre Research: Action

 I conducted research this year on the action genre of movies where I discussed the different aspects of the genre of action movies. I made sure in the powerpoint to add different pictures and examples of each term I researched. I specifically used pictures from action movies to show how each term was used and to show action examples. I discussed the lighting in action movies, which typically tends to be low-key lighting, high-key lighting, and Rembrandt lighting. I used pictures from movies like "Fight Club" to show the use of this lighting in these movies. I discussed the camera angles in action movies, which tend to be establishing shots, ariel shots, close up shots, mid shots, and high angle shots.
