This movie has dark scenes with lowkey lighting, which is common for thrillers. This movie also takes place in a city and the main characters are a normal family living normal lives. The main characters are costumed to look like normal people, which is common for movies like this. There are also multiple scenes that take place in the house where it is really dark. The movies acting involves a lot of emotion like screaming and crying which adds tension to the scenes. There are a lot of surprises within the movies which helps build up the anxiety within the audience. Theres also a lot of special effects makeup since this movie has to do with a supernatural force called La Llorona. It was also filmed like a thriller with tracking and pans.
What elements of the genre did the movie have that you liked?
I enjoyed the special effects makeup on the character La Llorona, since it makes her look like a supernatural force. I also enjoyed how everyone was costumed to look like a normal person, other than La Llorona. I enjoyed how the movie was filmed since it was filmed like a typical thriller. I also liked the setting of the movie since it was set in a city with normal people. I believe the setting of it being in a normal area really adds to the suspense and surprise of the movie. The props of the movie really added to the surprise and suspense of the movie. I also enjoyed the sound of the movie since it really immersed me into the movie. The sound also added to the suspense of the movie, which allowed for the music to build up and add some suspense.
What elements of the genre did the movie have that did not appeal to you?
I didn't enjoy the acting within the movie since it felt very overly dramatic at some points, or that it was fake. I also didn't really enjoy the flow of the movie since there were parts that I felt confused upon. I didn't really like the plot of the movie overall. I also didn't enjoy how sometimes the lighting felt inconsistent within the movie.
