Filming for My Gatorade Commercial

I started filming my Gatorade commercial on October 28th, at Holiday Park. Days before I started filming I met up with my actress and we talked about what is going to be in the commercial, and what she would be doing. On Wednesday, October 28th I gathered my main product, filming equipment, and brought my storyboard, and met my actress at Holiday Park to film my Gatorade commercial. When we got to the park we noticed our spot that we were going to initially film was taken up by a sports team. We quickly thought of another plan which was to film on the side of the field, where there was still grass, however no one was there. When we started filming, my actress noticed when she put on her running shoes, there was a hole in the shoe. Instead of letting the hole in her shoe ruin the commercial, we had a backup plan and saw that my actress had her cleats in her car and decided that would also work well for the commercial. After those events happening, we finally started filming the commercial. I took a look at my storyboard to remember what to film in the commercial, however I noticed when filming that the commercial didn't look continuous with what I initially planned out. In response to the filming not looking continuous I decided to add two extra scenes of my actress running so the commercial would feel more continuous. As the day went on I made sure to be specific in my directing, since I was the only person to direct this commercial. There were times where I felt that I had to re-film scenes because I wasn't getting the angle that I liked, or it was overall bad footage. The storyboard was very helpful when it came to knowing what and how to film scenes, and it also helped me manage my time on how long I was spending on each scene. I filmed all of the scenes in the commercial on my phone, which was challenging in a way because I had to keep my hands from shaking while filming. Since this was my first time ever filming a commercial, there were a lot of things that I noticed throughout the filming process. I noticed that when it comes to our main prop, the whole commercial wouldn't make sense if you didn't see the brand name in the key scenes of the commercial. I also learned that I have to be very detailed when describing what to do in the scenes to my actress, to make sure she understands. A really big thing that I noticed when filming was that being patient is crucial, because I had to re-film multiple scenes, multiple times. I also learned during this experience that it is always good to have a backup plan when filming.
I completed all of the filming for my commercial that day, which took a long time since I had to re-film some scenes. Overall I enjoyed this experience directing, and filming a commercial.
