Filming for My Music Video

Image
On November 20th I started filming my music video at the actors house. The day before I looked over my storyboard so I knew what scene I wanted to start with. I gathered everything I needed to film for this music video, like my phone to film on and my storyboard.  I brought my storyboard so I knew what I needed to film while I was there. Knowing what I needed to film helped me everything in a timely manner since we had to film in two locations. When we started filming I made sure to tell my actor what they needed to do in each scene in detail. However I still needed to re-film multiple scenes, multiple times because we couldn't get the right shot or angle.  We completed all of the filming at the house after multiple takes of different scenes. We later went into the car and filmed a scene, which took a very long time to film since we kept on messing up the shot. We then drove to the beach with the rest of our props, and filmed a couple of scenes within the car. However wh...

Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

Image
I have decided on the song I will be using for my music video, now I must plan out what I'm going to film. In the first scene, my actor can be seen wearing normal attire while looking in the mirror at themself. I will film this at an angle where you can't see the camera I am filming with. For my second scene my actor will exit the room where he is looking at himself. For my third scene my actor will enter the same room again and look at himself in the mirror again. My actor will now be wearing beach attire, while looking at himself in the mirror. In my fourth scene my actor will exit that room for the last time in his beach attire. I will film this as a wide shot. In my fifth scene you will be able to see my actor enter another room, he is now in beach attire. I will film this scene from behind my actor as they are walking into the next room. In my sixth scene you can see that there is a surfboard in that room. The surfboard will be grabbed by the actors hand who is off camera ...

Planning for my Music Video

Image
For my music video I have decided on using the song "Die Young" by Kesha. I have chosen this song because it fits idea I have in mind for my music video. This song is very up beat and happy, and I think it could go well with any type of music video. Since Kesha does different types of music videos, I decided to differentiate my music video from hers. My music video will be very up beat and happy, and will make the music in the background sound fun.  Props For my music video I will be using a surf board as a prop. My actor will be seen carrying the surfboard, and using it to surf on the water.  Costumes For my commercial, I will be using one main actor through out the entire music video. The actor will be seen wearing a swimsuit of some sort while we are filming. At the beginning of the music video, the actors hair will be dry, and towards the middle and end, their hair will be wet. I plan on showing my actor go to the beach, and surf.  Schedule For this music video ...

Research Blog: Music Video Conventions

Image
For my music video I will be using "Die Young" by Kesha as the song. In the music video for "Die Young", Kesha is the center of attention most of the music video, while she is dancing. There are also other people in the music video who showcase Kesha, and dance. It takes place in an abandoned area, and they sing and dance through out the entire music video. There are some close ups of Kesha and the other dancers in the music video. They all seem to be having fun throughout the entirety of the music video when they dance with Kesha.  I have also done research on Kesha's other music videos, and I have realized there is no specific type of music video Kesha does. Some of her music videos involve a lot of singing and dancing, where some of them don't showcase her dancing at all. However a lot of her music videos feature people having fun and dancing. Some of Kesha's music videos feature her music being played at a concert or a party with a lot of people the...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
I will be starting a new project for this class, my music video project. For this new project I have decided to work by myself and not in a group. I have always been a very independent person, and I overall work better alone than I do with other people. I also have other responsibilities to attend to while working on this project, and I think that I would have to work by my schedule, not anyone else's. I also don't like relying on other people to complete a project since there's a possibility they may not complete it by the due date. Overall I think working by myself would be the best choice for this project. The song I chose for this project is "Die Young" by Kesha. I thought about using multiple songs, and that was a big issue since I couldn't decide on what song to use. I wanted to have a song that had a very happy and exciting mood, which is a description for a lot of songs. I started off with writing down all the songs that I wanted to use for my music v...

Creative Critical Reflection Questions

Image
How does your product use or challenge conventions AND  how does it represent social groups or issues?  My product uses conventions by taking place in an area where people can typically be seen exercising. It also has a prominent theme in other sports drink commercials, which is exercising and getting in shape. Also my commercial has good lighting which is very prominent in sports drink commercials. My project represents social groups or issues since we are advertising a sport drink, this could be representing athletes. Also this could represent people who would like to exercise more often, because they might look at the commercial and drink Gatorade when they start exercising my consistently.  How does your product engage with audiences AND how would it be distributed as a real media text? My product engages with audiences by talking about a product that is typically used in sports. The product engages with audiences because those who are athletes who play sports,...

My Gatorade Commercial

Image
After a lot of trial and error, I have completed my commercial for Gatorade. I am very proud to show this commercial, since it took a lot of time and effort to complete. This commercial taught me many things when it comes to filming, directing, editing, and overall the whole process of what goes into making a commercial. In the beginning of this, I had no idea what I was doing, I was ver confused on how to start filming a commercial. However, I started off with researching what I wanted to do my commercial on, and what the commercial would be about. This helped me plan what I wanted to film, where I wanted to film the commercial, and what the commercial should overall be about. The research took me into how to plan for the commercial, which involved planning what day I should film, what and who I am going to film, and the props I will be using in the commercial. Before I started filming I drew out on my storyboard what each scene would look like, therefore I had an overall view on what...
